State Farm Steer Clear Discount and Moving Violations?

13 months ago, I received a speeding ticket. It was a supervision ticket (6 mo) and I went to traffic school/paid for the ticket. My current Driving Abstract from the DMV lists that I have nothing on my record. I just got Steer Clear Good Driver discount forms in the mail. Am I still eligible? Would an insurance company know about my ticket?

I got into a car accident?

I was sitting at a red light and got rear ended by a drunk driver at approx 35 mph. I was wearing a safety belt. I was taken to hospital, and he was taken straight to jail for his 4th DWI conviction. I suffered the normal whiplash injuries, but also herniated and ripped a disk in my lower back that was not preexisting. My insurance company had me evaluated by their MD, and he concurred it was not prexisting. I have a personal injury lawyer who seems quite professional. I live in New York State which means all of my medical bills have been paid via no-fault insurance. However I’d like to get a large recovery mainly because i am so mad that he is a 44 year old man, and hitting me gave him his 4th dwi. I also had my job filled because I was out for so long healing. I used to be an emergency nurse for the government. Does anyone think i will get a good recovery despite having all medical bills paid by no-fault. My lawyer seems quite confident, but I have a bad feeling i’m not "hurt enough". Thanks everyone.
I forgot to mention that I haven’t received any insurance payout from his company. My attorney is demanding a settlement amount from his insurance company. His insurance company has not offered me anything as of yet.

How does uninsured motorist work,?

I got in a wreck someone hit me from behind and she gave me false insurance information and she had a 2008 car. If I file it under uninsured motorist and after I get an estimate does my insurance company cut a check for a repair shop or for me to pay who i want to pay to fix my car?

I collected money from my insurance (property damage & P.I.). The party who caused the accident had no insurance. If I collect money from the uninsured party, do I have to pay my insurance company back. How can I legally avoid this?

I live in the South Bay, and I am purchasing a car along with insurance. I just need a cheap insurance company because I will not be driving the car for long, as I am going to the Air Force at the beginning of next year.

Ok so dec 2007 i got the speeding 50 over charge. In ontario its considered stunt driving. I just got convincted yesterday to a charge of 49 over and 4 demerit points. My lawyer informd me that my points get erased from my drivers abstract 2 years after the offence date. That will be this december.

My question is…

1. the insurance wont find out that i have this on my record unless they look at it right? How often do companies do this?

2. if i make it to december without my insurance going up, and my points get erased from my drivers abstract is there someway the insurance company can still find out and shoot my insurance up?

Thank you 10 easy points for best answer. Someone who works in insurance perferably.
No in ontario you accumulate points. I dont want to contact my insurance company becuase it will give them a heads up to look into my file. And i dont want that. In ontario your demerit points come off 2 years after the OFFENCE date. Not conviction.

I have limited coverage, so my insurance company can’t help me, right?

the uninsured driver has promised to pay but I doubt he will.

so how can I get reimbursed from him? do I need to file a civil suit against him? is it worth it to file a civil suit if the damage is ,000?

If you are in an accident with another driver that does not have insurance… will your insurance get that driver in trouble?

In Cali its against the law to not have insurance. I dont want this person to be arrested or have anything bad happen to them. They are already in a bad situation financially and that’s why they didn’t have insurance in the first place.

The accident: Store parking lot. We backed up into each other while trying to get out of our parking spots. Insured car has a broken tail light… uninsured car has a scratched bumper.

Uninsured driver said they would pay for damages…
Can the insured driver have this covered without getting the uninsured driver in trouble? Or should it be handled outside of the insurance company?
okay… so what if the uninsured driver is me?

The lady is nice enough to not want to get me in trouble. I am going to pay her for damages.

What should we do… handle it outside of the insurance company?

Please do not criticize me for my situation… I just need to know what to do.. and yes I am looking into insurance. (if you know of an inexpensive provider please feel free to share TY)

This is the first car I’ve bought myself and am a little unfamiliar with the process. Do I just need to call the insurance company and then visit the DMV for the registration/title? Thanks!

California Car Insurance Discounts?

I spoke with my progressive car insurance rep about potential discounts I could be entitled to since I’m only 19 and have only had my license for about a year now. My driving record is clean of any blemishes but I was dismayed to see my premium rise 10% on renewal. My insurance rep informed that because I live in California, I do not qualify for many discounts. This would include a good student discount, upfront premium payoff discount, and others. He also informed me that my premium rose due to an increase in California auto insurance rates. So my question is, are there really state regulations against these kind of discounts in Cali or is this just how my insurance company rolls?

BTW, I just saved 0 on my car insurance! :)
Thanks guys. I’m not too concerned at the moment about finding the cheapest insurance or whether my premium is reasonable. I’d prefer to stick with progressive since they offer pretty good service. I was just curious to which discounts should be available to to me and what determines their availability.
