I have made this trip several times without any problem.
Now the roads are good all of the way.
I take I-20 to Shreveport and then head South to pick up I-10.
I don’t think driving in La. or Miss is any more dangerous than driving on any highway.
Mississippi and Louisiana are no more dangerous than driving around in Dallas. Go to Shreveport and head south on I49 Then turn left on I10 and keep driving.
There are dangerous areas in LA and MS, as there are in any state, but you’ll be rolling down the highway, not roaming around the bad parts of town. Enjoy your trip.
Just watch out for the flooding in Louisiana. Other than that the United States is a very safe place to drive if you stick to major roads, especially the interstates and US highways. Once you get off them, it gets a little worse, but you still should have no problem.
